On the afternoon of March 2, the promotion conference of Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia Conference in Beijing was held. The journalist learned at the promotion conference that the first Global Health Forum will be held in Qingdao West Coast New Area from June 10 to 12, 2019, with 100 days to go. The first Global Health Forum will be held under the slogan of "Health Beyond Health – In the Year of Sustainable Development 2030", focusing on the theme of "Health for All", discuss hot issues in health-related fields, gather wisdom from all sides, promote global cooperation, and gradually turn the Global Health Forum into a world-renowned "Davos in Health ".

The contribution of enterprises to health will be included into the agenda

During the presentation, Dr. Margaret Chan, President of the Global Health Forum, introduced the progress of the Global Health Forum. Dr. Chan introduced that while referring to other international health forums, the Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia will include the contribution of enterprises to health in its agenda, "such as food health, health insurance, and the sports industry, etc., which are all contributing to the health of the people." Dr. Margaret Chan said that this is not available in other forums.

An important part of the Global Health Forum is the discussion on "big health". “For me, big health is the whole cycle of life from conception to burial. We should not be limited to health care workers, patients, pharmaceutical companies, medical equipment manufacturers, and we hope that high-tech companies, food companies, breeding industry, insurance agencies, and elderly institutions can participate in the discussion." Dr. Margaret Chan said.

The World Health Organization Director-General will attend

At the promotion meeting, Dr. Margaret Chan introduced that in the past few months, the organizing committee of the Global Health Forum has visited many domestic and foreign organizations and gained the support from national ministries, international organizations, industry associations and other parties. At present, the National Health Commission, the Red Cross of China, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, the China Disabled Persons' Federation, the State Medical Insurance Administration and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine have confirmed their support for the conference.

The World Health Organization, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, UNAIDS, the International Telecommunication Union, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the World Meteorological Organization, the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Geneva Institute for Advanced International Relations and Development, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and other international organizations and institutions have expressed their support for the conference and send officials to attend it. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, will attend the conference.

It is reported that the agenda of the first Global Health Forum includes an opening ceremony, a plenary session, a high-end political and business dialogue, a welcome dinner and a closing ceremony; two sessions; three sub-forums; four site visits and study programs; a 50,000-square-meter exhibition of new technologies; six side events and a display of 100 domestic and international health and biomedical innovation projects.

At the promotion meeting, Wan Jianzhong, deputy secretary-general of Qingdao Municipal Government, introduced that Qingdao is striving for creating a national regional medical center and a famous international health and wellness city, promoting the opening up of the health industry to the world, optimizing the business environment, and building a win-win industrial ecology. In this context, Qingdao is very willing to further strengthen comprehensive exchanges and cooperation with industry leaders, famous entrepreneurs, experts and scholars in the field of health at home and abroad, to introduce more health industry enterprises to invest and develop in Qingdao, and to accelerate the process of Qingdao to become a city of 100 billion in health industry.
