BEIJING, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) released a research report on "The Pandemic and the Changing World" on June 2, which concluded that the new coronary pneumonia epidemic is the first truly "globalized epidemic" and that for the first time in human history, we have taken the initiative to press the "pause button" on the global economy for the prevention and control of infectious diseases.
The report notes that the epidemic has had a major impact on the world economy, security and global development, and will accelerate the evolution of the international order and the human society. The historical trend of globalization will not be stopped by the epidemic, but its structure and connotation may undergo new changes.
Li Baodong, Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia, said that the epidemic has alerted the world in a clear way that human beings live in a global village and have become a community of shared future. No country can stand alone in the face of global challenges. Boao Forum for Asia has always believed that only by adhering to multilateralism and strengthening international cooperation can we better respond to global challenges.
The report was released at the expert webinar of the Second Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia.
