Implementing the instructions of Premier Li Keqiang, Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan emphasized resolute efforts to put in place measures for regular epidemic prevention and control to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Dalian, as she visited the city on 27th and 28th.

In Dalian, Sun visited the customs, communities, enterprises, hospitals and medical schools, and heard a report on local epidemic prevention and control and visited various facilities to learn about nucleic acid testing, supplies and patient treatment. Affirming the measures adopted by both the city and the province, Sun, urged resolute steps to guard against the resurgence of COVID-19 cases and demanded full screening of local residents in a quick manner, strengthened quarantine inspections on imported goods, and strict management of people leaving Dalian, including nucleic acid testing and tracking of their whereabouts, to curb the spreading of the epidemic to other regions.

She also urged efforts to step up epidemiological investigation and find out how the virus was transmitted in the region at a meeting. The vice premier said the principle of early detection, reporting, quarantine, and treatment should be strictly observed. It is necessary to closely monitor the developments of the pandemic, strengthen the research on transmission mechanism and pathogenicity to block the transmission chain of the virus and stop its spread, she said.

Locally transmitted COVID-19 cases recently occurred in some cities in China, and Sun demanded no relaxation of anti-epidemic measures. Sun stressed detailed implementation of the current prevention and control measures in a scientific and accurate fashion. She called for ensuring the efficiency and quality of nucleic acid testing, stepping up the management of quarantine sites to guard against cross-infections and properly handling people's demand for medicine. Decisive and swift actions should be taken to curb the COVID-19 resurgence to reduce the impact on the society and the economy.
