QINGDAO, June 1 (Hu Yaojie) -- The second Global Health Expo of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) was opened in Qingdao on June 1. At the meeting, Margaret Chan, Honorary Director-General of the World Health Organization and President of Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia, called on all countries and regions in the world to make full use of the new development opportunities of the health industry, increase investment in science and technology innovation, attach importance to industrial leadership, foster the development of the health cause, and make contribution to growing the world economy, promoting human health and well-being and sustainable economic development.

Margaret Chan said that in the past year, the New Coronavirus has continued to spread around the world, with frequent virus mutations, having serious impact on  people's lives and health, and severe damage on the global economy. However, this does not mean a pause for society and the development. Many enterprises have survived and found new development opportunities despite the complex situation of the epidemic, and the health industry is one of them, becoming one of the fastest growing industries since the epidemic.

According to Chan, the epidemic has also changed people's concept of health and increased their consciousness in health management. Data shows that the society has more diversified demands for health services, and also pays more attention to preventive care, health monitoring and emergency response. This all promotes the relationship between the big health business and people's well-being, and economic development and social stability.

Margaret Chan said that in such a context, Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia takes the Health Expo as a platform to fully promote the transformation, integration and upgrading of the big health industry, comprehensively explore the pioneering opportunities of the development of the big health industry and deepen practical cooperation.
