On the afternoon of June 2, the 2^nd Global health forum of Boao Forum for Asia opened and Li Bin, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony.

Margaret Chan, President of Global Health Forum, hosted the opening ceremony, and Li Baodong, Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia and Liu Jiayi, the secretary of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, delivered a welcome speech. Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of Boao Forum for Asia, Princess Sirindhorn of Thailand, Zhou Xiaochuan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Boao Forum for Asia, Yasuo Fukuda, Chairman of Council of Advisors of Boao Forum for Asia and former Prime Minister of Japan,  Dame Jenny Shipley, former Prime Minister of New Zealand and member of Board of Directors of Boao Forum for Asia, and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, also addressed the conference.

Over 1000 delegates from different countries, regions, international organizations, academic and media attended the opening ceremony.
