The Press Conference for the Second Conference of the Global Health Forum of BFA Opens in Beijing

On the morning of October 22, Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) held a press conference for the second conference of Global Health Forum (GHF) in Beijing, which brought together around 200 participants including Mr.Li Baodong, Secretary General of BFA, Dr. Margaret Chan, President of GHF, Sun Jiye, Vice Governor of Shandong Province, Meng Fanli, Vice Secretary of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee and Mayor of Qingdao, diplomatic envoys to China, representatives of international organizations, and health-related government officials, as well as business and media representatives. 


Despite the significant progress made in global health in recent years, some health issues remain unsolved such as inadequate and unequal access to basic healthcare, said Mr.Li Baodong in his address at the press conference. BFA has been following developments at the frontier of health and trends in cross-disciplinary convergence, while adopting fresh perspectives on the global health agenda. It is committed to pooling global wisdom to promote international exchange and cooperation in health.


President Margaret Chan introduced the theme, topics, invited guests, key activities and preparations for the second GHF. Around the theme of “Health Beyond Health- In The Year of Sustainable Development 2030”, the second conference will address three key topics of “Universal Health Coverage”, “Innovation for Health” and “Health in All Policies” through various key activities including opening ceremony, plenary, about 30 parallel sessions, high-level roundtable dialogue for ministers and entrepreneurs and a health industry exhibition.


On behalf of “hospitable Shandong”, Vice Governor Sun Jiye welcomed leaders from various communities to attend the second conference of the GHF. Shandong province and the city of Qingdao are committed to supporting the development of GHF into a high-level international health dialogue and cooperation platform, driving the progress of “Healthy China” vision and advancing the global health agenda.  


Mayor Meng Fanli expressed Qingdao’s support for this event. The city will work closely with the BFA Secretariat and the Organizing Committee of GHF to present a well-prepared event and provide all the participants with more attentive and thoughtful services. 


The second conference of the Global Health Forum of BFA will take place on June 15-17, 2020 in Qingdao, Shandong. Serving as a platform and a bridge, the event is expected to play significant roles in connecting the development of the health sector in China, Asia and the world, and thus contribute to the formation of a human community with a shared future of health.
