Zhou Xiaochuan, Vice Chairman of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), gave a keynote speech at the workshop, pointing out that the world is now dealing with the challenges of population aging, and ensuring the sustainability of the pension insurance system. In this way, strengthening actuarial calculations, incentive compatibility and rational operation are key to a pension system. Li Baodong, Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia, delivered a speech at the conference, while Li Bo, Vice Mayor of Chongqing, and Ma Jun, Director of Center for Finance and Development Research of Tsinghua National Institute of Financial Research, presided over the conference. Nearly 30 renowned experts from Sweden, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Canada, China and the World Bank attended the conference, and shared their insights on the comparison of pay-as-you-go and pre-funded accumulation systems, how to bridge the transition gap and establish incentive mechanisms, and the relevance of pension investment to the development of capital markets.
After this workshop, Boao Forum for Asia Academy with other four institutions will jointly complete a research report on the topic of "Pension Reform: International Experience and Chinese Solutions".
