At the 2^nd conference of Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia on “Universal Health Coverage—Non-communicable Diseases: Prospects for Prevention and Control in the Context of a Global Pandemic”, Liang Xiaofeng said that the current situation in China is that the burden of chronic diseases is very heavy, especially cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer, which are growing rapidly. In addition, we are also facing the challenges from tobacco and alcohol control, salt and oil control, and sugar control.

He said that China has done a very good job in epidemic prevention and control, and the relevant experience can be applied to the prevention and control of chronic diseases. He suggested that at the community level - family doctors, community health centers, community health service centers, township health centers, and rural doctors should all take up this responsibility and play a role in integrating health care and prevention at the grassroots level.
