Opportunities for Development

On June 11, 2019, the first Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia opened in Qingdao. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the forum, hoping that the forum would help pool strength from all sides, build consensus, enhance exchanges, advance the global health cause and the health sector, and promote international health cooperation, in order to contribute to promoting the health of humanity.

In October 2019, President Xi Jinping gave important instructions on the work of Traditional Chinese Medicine: we should follow the law of development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, inherit the essence, make innovations on the basis of tradition, accelerate the modernization and industrialization of Traditional Chinese Medicine, support the development of both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medicine,  promote the high-quality development of Traditional Chinese Medicine cause and industry, advance the globalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine, give full play to the unique advantages of Traditional Chinese Medicine in preventing and treating diseases, in order to contribute to building a healthy China and realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

Dedicated to the common vision of "Health for All",  Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia has established the Innovation Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine under the framework of Expert Committee on Health and Sustainability to promote the modernization, industrialization and internationalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the key

The Healthy China Strategy is an important strategic plan for the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and is a common responsibility and action of the state, society, families and individuals. The implementation of the Healthy China Strategy provides a precious opportunity and a broad stage for the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine will certainly play a unique and important role in building a Healthy China.

Modernization is the key to the revitalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We should make innovations on the basis of tradition, adopt the ideas and methods of modern system science to promote the openness and development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, accelerate the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern science, lead the modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine by scientific and technological innovation, establish a new scientific system, and give full play to the leading, synergistic and central role of Traditional Chinese Medicine in " preventive treatment of disease", disease treatment, and disease rehabilitation to provide people with full life cycle health services; give play to the advantages of Traditional Chinese Medicine in simplicity, convenience, experimentation and low price, and improve the national medical security system; give play to the characteristics of Traditional Chinese Medicine in using natural herbs, and promote the concept of harmony between humanity and nature; and give play to the original characteristics of Traditional Chinese Medicine scientific research and health industry to make original contributions to the world medicine.

Establishing Innovation Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine

The Global Health Forum (GHF) of Boao Forum for Asia aims to build a platform for exchange between government, business, industry, academia and research, and promote the development of international health, with rich resources of close connection with local government, national ministries , international organizations, experts and scholars, industry associations and leading enterprises, as well as the advantages of serving cross-border cooperation among all parties. In order to respond to national strategy of developing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and promote the development of TCM industry, Global Health Forum has established the Innovation Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Innovation Center is dedicated to integrating various innovative resources in the field of TCM from all over the world, building a platform for policy interpretation, strategic analysis, government-enterprise cooperation and professional communication, exploring international exchange and cooperation, and improving the TCM scientific and technological innovation system, research and development of classic and famous prescriptions, intelligent manufacturing of TCM, quality of TCM standards, training of talents and transformation of results,so as to help promote the modernization, industrialization and internationalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

A Mission

The Innovation Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine will play a leading role in promoting the innovative development in building a healthy China, and is devoted to integrating all kinds of global innovative resources in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine, providing policy interpretation, strategic analysis, government-enterprise cooperation and professional communication, exploring international exchange and collaboration, improving the TCM scientific and technological innovation system, research and development of classic and famous prescriptions, intelligent manufacturing of TCM, quality of TCM standards, training of talents and transformation of results, so as to help promote the heritage and development of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Yu Mengsun Member of Expert Committee on Health and Sustainable Development  of Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia Chief Expert Cousultant of Innovation Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine    Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and expert on aeromedicine and biomedical engineering. Academician Yu Mengsun is currently the director of the Aeromedical Engineering Research Center of Air Force Institute of Aviation Medicine, professor and Phd supervisor of the Air Force Medical University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Shandong University, dual-employed academician of Peking University, and the honorary chairman of Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering.

Qiao Yanjiang Member of Expert Committee on Health and Sustainable Development of Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia Director of Innovation Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine   Dr. Qiao Yanjiang is a recipient of the special allowance of the State Council and leader of the State Key Discipline in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is the convener of the 6th Discipline Review Group (Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese pharmacy) of the Office of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, the expert of the National "973" Program for Major Basic Theoretical Research in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the expert of the National "11th Five-Year Plan" Support Program, and the expert of the National Public Health Emergency Response Group.
