中央赴湖北指导组:坚持重症轻症并重 千方百计救治患者

To promote the rescue and treatment of severe and mild patients, Sun Chunlan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, led the central steering group to visit the medical workers at the front-line, listened to the opinions and suggestions of the hospital expert team, and requested the relevant departments to increase the protection efforts.

Sun Chunlan said, some effective experience have been gained from the current medical treatment process, and should be summarized in a timely manner to formulate a standardized process suitable for promotion in medical institutions. For the critically ill patients, medical teams should focus on multidisciplinary and make every effort to reduce the death rate of critically ill patients.

At present, more than 30,000 medical personnel from local and military forces have arrived in Wuhan, Hubei, including doctors on respiratory, infection, heart and kidney and other disciplines. Wuhan has 11,000 medical personnel specializing in critical care, close to 10 percent of the country's critical care medical personnel resources.

Sun Chunlan pointed out that there are some positive changes in the prevention and control of the epidemic in Wuhan, Hubei Province, but the situation is still grim. The rescue and treatment must focus on avoiding the development of minor illnesses into serious ones. The medical treatment in the makeshift hospitals and quarantine places should also be further improved by combining Chinese and Western medicine.

The Central Steering Group urged the government of Hubei Province and Wuhan City to further strengthen the verification and screening of febrile patients to cut off the source of infection and block the transmission. At present, Hubei Province and Wuhan City are further strengthening the screening and verification of febrile patients, focusing on the four aspects of the screening, transfer, admission, and treatment in order, make the admission and treatment referral available, to ensure that patients are transferred to the appropriate medical institutions in a timely manner, and all in need receive the treatment. The number of designated hospitals in Wuhan has increased to 45, with a total of 19,161 beds; 12 makeshift hospitals are set up, with more than 20,000 beds as planned.
