On the morning of June 2, Shen Danyang, BFA Board Member and Executive Vice Governor of Hainan Province t delivered a speech at the first plenary of the second Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia, themed on " Health in All Policies".

Shen Danyang said, Hainan Free Trade Port is a major national strategy initiated,   planned, and promoted by President Xi Jinping. In the construction of the free trade port, the health industry has always been the core direction of Hainan relying on its unique advantages such as ecological environment, geographic location, policy system, to promote the development of the medical and health field. By adopting the Health Industry Development Plan, Hainan is making great efforts to promote the high-quality development of health industry with nine projects such as the construction of Boao Lecheng pilot zone of international medical tourism.

First,  the scale of the industry is increased. In 2020, the medical and health industry value added in Hainan province grew by 12.7% year-on-year, driving the extension and expansion of the industry chain vertically, promoting the integration of health and related industries Horizontally, and encouraging the broader development of the international and domestic health industry.

Second, the agglomeration effect emerges. The Boao Super Hospital has been built, introducing 20 top discipline associations, and undertaking 66 first cases of medical technology innovation applications in China. Hainan Free Trade Port Resort Software Community has already attracted more than 200 health enterprises.

Third, the innovation capability has been significantly improved. We have established health industry innovation center, domestic medical device innovation industry cluster and health big data resources innovation industry cluster, which lay a solid foundation for the development of health industry in Hainan and raise the overall level of health industry in Hainan.

During the Two Sessions this year, President Xi Jinping pointed out that "the people's health is the foundation of social civilization and progress, as well as a key mark of a prosperous nation and a strong country”. Hainan Province is upholding the people-centered development concept, and plans to establish a complete health industry system with optimized structure and distinctive features by 2025, build a leading intelligent health ecological island and an important global tourism health destination, and bring together a number of large health enterprises with strong innovation and international competitiveness, to make intelligent health services reach the international leading level, and the health industry at the forefront of the country.
