On the afternoon of June 3, Lyu Hailin, former President of UN Women's International Forum, delivered a speech at Women’s Health Forum: Healthy Women, Healthy Planet of the second Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia.

Lyu Hailin said that Boao Forum for Asia established the Global Health Forum in 2018 and organized the first Global Health Forum in Qingdao in June 2019. The Covid-19 epidemic has brought human health issues to a new level, and we are all doubting when the epidemic will end, when the economy will recover and when life will be back to normal. The second Global Health Forum was held at the right time. Among the many topics of the forum, there are three about women, indicating that women and women's health issues are receiving more attention.

Speaking about women's rights, Lyu Hailin described the status of women in China as "rising up and up". She said that before the founding of the People's Republic of China, women were confined to their homes and could not go out of the gates. Many women were illiterate and could not read or write. In the 72 years since the founding of the country, the status of women has greatly changed, and enjoyed the same opportunities for education and the same rights for work with men. A large number of women did an excellent job and stood out on their positions.

I don't quite agree with the saying women are as vulnerable as children. Vulnerable groups can be defined by age, and children and older people are indeed weaker. But vulnerable groups should not be defined by gender, as men have their advantages, and women also have theirs. Women are beautiful, elegant, careful, meticulous, tolerant, resilient, vulnerable looking but strong-willed. Women are like water, and have the characters of water, including softness and persistence. Women are like water, and the water that bears the boat is the same that swallows it up. Women should be confident and powerful. If encountered with different pay for the same work, domestic violence, discrimination against women, women should assert their rights, dare to defend their rights, and use the law to protect their rights.

When it comes to leadership, Lyu Hailin stressed that leadership is not something that can be begged or given, but depends on ability and competence. If you have this ability, you will be the leader. Women who love their work and do it well will get the leadership.

Lyu Hailin said that human needs are divided into two categories, 20% of the material, 80% of the spiritual. Regarding the health, we should pay attention not only to physical health, but also to spiritual health and mental health. Women should pay attention to spiritual health, but this issue is far from discussion and concern.

One of the criteria for judging a woman's ability is whether she can manage interpersonal relationships well. Interpersonal relationships are the most difficult to handle. If you can handle them well, you have "high emotional intelligence". A very important relationship is the relationship between husband and wife. One will not be happy if the husband and wife relationship is not harmonious, even if he or she has a successful career. Among the family members, the only one who can stay with you for a long time and grow old together is your husband who does not have a blood tie with you. Good relationship between husband and wife will heighten women’s sense of happiness.

Lyu Hailin said that women should hold correct views on love and kinship. When in love, men will put 100% of their time and energy on women, and this is love. After marriage, the two become a family, and it becomes affection. The man cannot always put all his energy and time into women, as he has to work, earn money, raise a family, and has his own business, and friends. Therefore, women should also have their own careers, jobs, friends, and connections. Both men and women live their own lives, and at the same time, manage the relationship between husband and wife well, this is called "have a good life". Women should make themselves beautiful, relaxed, handle the work well, maintain a good family, develop a good relationship with the husband, and take good care of children. Such a women is successful and will have a wonderful life.
