New variants of the new coronavirus continue to emerge, and the global epidemic is still spreading. In this regard, Prof. Wang Yu said that since vaccination can only reduce severe illness and death, but cannot completely block the transmission of the virus; at the same time, the virus keeps mutating and escaping immunity, which intensifies the pressure on the existing vaccine. This has led to renewed COVID-19 outbreaks around the globe, which has exerted a profound negative impact on economy and society. "To secure the final victory against the pandemic, it is necessary to base public health decisions on scientific evidence, strengthen international cooperation, and prevent political interference. Professor Wang Yu emphasized that "defeating the coronavirus pandemic requires government leadership, scientific support and universal participation". We are in a global community of health for all Human health, where everyone is influenced by each other. The Covid-19 mainly affects the elderly and people with underlying diseases, who are most likely to turn into severe cases from a high risk or even die after infection. Due to this, the whole society has to be in a state of prevention and control, including various social prevention and control measures as well as isolation measures. Protecting the high-risk population is a prerequisite to the removal of restrictive measures. For example, we should all help promote the vaccination of the elderly, as well as various other measures, so that the whole society can be back to normal as soon as possible.

Finally, he welcomed all to participate in the Global Health Forum of Boao Forum for Asia this year, to have a broader and deeper discussion on health issues.
